Do you know that you can find out more about Aleksandrs NEILANDS, born 22 June 1917, as well as Anna, born 29 April 1923, Nora, born 9 February 1947 and Andra-Renate born 10 October 1948, if you go to http://www.naa.gov.au and click on the RecordSearch button at the bottom of the list on the left hand side?  You can "Search Now" as a guest or "Log in" if you have registered earlier.  The difference is that RecordSearch saves your searches if you have registered.  In the Search screen, enter Neilands and choose Items in the Search level panel.  You should get 22 results, including Series number A12015, Control symbol R157-R160.  This item is the selection papers, but if you visit a National Archives Reading Room (one in each capital city), the Readers' Assistant there should be able to assist you with alien's registration and citizenship papers--or you can e-mail questions to ref@naa.gov.au.  Have a look at the series notes for A12015 and here's the likely gem:  the policy file for the voyage of Aleksandrs and his family, "SS Oxfordshire - ex Naples 7 February 1950 [includes Nominal Roll]" which is item number (Control symbol) 1950/3/5329 in Series number A434.  Let us know how you get on!
